Independent, impartial, experienced judges

This year the judging will take place in two stages.

Stage One

Judges will read your uploaded written submission and view the accompanying support material online. Judges will then put together a shortlist of entries for each of the categories assigned to them. The judges will complete this process individually and remotely. The judges scores are then collated to determine the first stage shortlist.

Shortlisted entrants will be notified and given the opportunity to send in further supporting material for stage two of the judging process.

Stage Two

Judges will come together in their panels to discuss all of the shortlisted entries in the categories assigned to them on the judging day in late July. They will review each entry and the accompanying supporting material. After group discussion, the judges will then score each entry individually. These scores are collated to determine the final shortlist.

Entrants on the final shortlist will be notified and the shortlist made public online in August and published in the September issue of Event magazine .

Exceptions

Act of the Year

Judges will determine a shortlist in stage one of the judging as with the other categories (see judging page). The three shortlisted acts will be required to perform on the evening of the Event Awards. The audience will then get to vote for the act that they think deserves to win the award for Act of the Year.

Caterer of the Year

Judges will determine a shortlist of external/in-house catering teams in stage one of the judging as with the other categories. Shortlisted entrants will then be asked to visit an external venue for a food tasting where the entrant will provide samples of the food served at the three events showcased in their written entry to a small panel of judges. The judges will then vote taking into consideration both the food tasting and the written entry.

Showcase Award  

This is a special award judged solely by the readers of Event magazine. It is open to any exhibition organiser or agency that has seen one or more of their events featured as a double-page spread in Event magazine between the May 2010 and May 2011 issues of the publication. Voting will take place at eventmagazine.co.uk and readers can choose from a list of the featured showcases. The winner will be announced on the night of the awards.
